In response to mounting concerns from qualified teachers awaiting placement, the Deputy Minister of Education, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, has revealed the Ministry’s intention to secure financial clearance for teacher deployment subsequent to the successful completion of licensure examinations.
During a press briefing held in Accra on Monday, Rev Fordjour emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to employing competent educators, assuring journalists of imminent actions to address the issue.
“We wish everyone the very best and we assure them that we are seeking financial clearance to post as many [teachers] that will pass to various schools and communities where their services will be needed the most,” he declared.
Additionally, Rev Fordjour reiterated the government’s steadfast support for the teacher licensure examination, underscoring its pivotal role in upholding professional standards within the teaching profession.
“For the past six years that we have been implementing the teacher licensure examination, it has lifted the standard of teaching in this country. It has impacted outcomes and improved our education sector…It is important that we are sure that the people who are going to be deployed to teach our learners are people who have the requisite licenses,” he affirmed.
The announcement signals a proactive step by the government to address the concerns of qualified teachers awaiting deployment while reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the education sector.
