The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah, has disclosed that the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will not be canceled.
This comes at the back of several discussions ongoing among a section of the public pertaining to the annual national exams for junior high school students being canceled.
Speaking at an event or organized by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC today, the Dr. Eric Nkansah explained that Ghana’s Education System is moving from the Objective-Based Curriculum which promotes “chew, pour, pass and forget” to Standard-Based Curriculum which promotes retention of what is learned and more practical.
Reaction
Per what has been disclosed by the Director-General of GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah concerning the canceling of BECE, it means that the current batch of students in JHS 2 will sit for the annual national examination (BECE).
However, the kind of assessment may be slightly or entirely different from the usual BECE that existed.
