In Ghana, many people especially the youth are fond of buying energy drinks and other soft drinks to regain their lost energy. Due to the increasing demand for these drinks, day in and out, more and more companies are moving into the production of these drinks.

Although consuming energy drink is very effective, too much of it can lead to so many health risks. So, why not go natural by consuming nature’s energy drink, coconut water in place of modern energy drinks.

I am sure our ancestors never consumed energy drinks but lived so long and strong. It is common to hear people say that coconut water works magic when consumed.

Today, I will share with you the reasons why the majority of people call it magic water.

Coconut water has a practical compatible structure with the blood plasma in human bloodstream. That is why in recent times, coconut water is consumed by a large percentage of people around the globe.

Coconut sellers are not left out of the equation since it is a reliable source of earning a good income. It is therefore common to see coconut sellers on every major street in Accra and Kumasi.

The taste of coconut water is sometimes sweet and sometimes unpleasant depending on its maturity or the type of tree. In Ghana, there are two types of coconut trees — male and female. The female tree is generally short, yellow when ripe with very sweet water as opposed to the male one.

What happens when you drink this water? Drinking coconut water has the following health benefits.

1. Strengthens your immune system
When you consume coconut water, you strengthen your immune system, and you remove the bacteria which causes urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, gum diseases and viruses which cause cold, infectious diseases and typhus.

2. Good for the kidneys
Coconut water is also good for people suffering from kidney diseases since it reacts as a natural diuretic thereby cleansing the urinary tract and the bladder canals. It also helps to remove the toxins from the body and crush the kidney stones.

3. Improves digestion
Coconut water is good for digestion due to the high level of fiber in it.

4. Coconut water helps in getting rid of the headache.

5. According to research, you can solve several health problems during pregnancy with the help of coconut water.

6. Drinking coconut water also compensates for the lost fluids, and you will overcome the nausea which is often related with hangover.

7. Drinking one cup of coconut water every morning balances the electrolytes.

8. Instead of buying energy drink, consume coconut water to help you regain energy after a hard day’s work.
