The teacher unions at the pre-tertiary education level, viz, GNAT, NAGRAT and CCT-GH have issued a stern warning to the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for release of promotion results delays.

In a press statement dated August 15, and sighted by Bricy Boateng, the leaders of the giant union expressed their dissatisfaction over the undue delay in releasing results of the March 2023 Promotion Aptitude Test for members of the chalk and duster fraternity.

According to them, the second batch of the Promotion Aptitude Test for members of the Service is scheduled to take place in August 2023 meanwhile, the GES is tight-lipped about the exact date for the examination.

As if that were not enough, the Service is taking years to release the results of the first batch of examinations.

The unions have thus threatened to take industrial action should they not hear anything from the management of the Ghana Education Service by Friday, August 25, 2023.

Read the full press statement beneath.

We, the Teacher Unions, write to express our dismay and unhappiness with regard to the delay in releasing the March 2023 promotion results.

The examination was written as far back as March 2023. Per the agreement we
had with the Ghana Education Service (GES), two promotion exams were
supposed to be written annually (March and August).

As we write this letter, we are already in the month of August 2023, where the second cohort of teachers is to write their promotion exams. To make matters worse.

The delay has aggravated the backlog that we all sort to clear, and it has further
added to the woes of the teacher, thereby defeating the intention of writing the
promotion exams.

We, therefore, insist that the second set of the promotion examination should be
written, and the results released before 31 December 2023.

By this, we call for the immediate release of the March 2023 examination results
by Friday, 25h August 2023 or else, we have no other option than to advise
ourselves.

Worse, no official communiqué has been issued by the GES on the delay in
releasing the March 2023 promotion results.
