According to Ghana News Agency, some of the staff and the Security officers of the Authority disclosed to the News Agency that the doors of the office will only be opened to those who had booked appointment with them online to enter the Dzorwulu branch premises.

Following the development at the branch, scores of the public who had wasted their time and money to visit the Dzorwulu branch office to work on their card either to collect, register afresh or replace their lost Ghana Cards are left stranded and confused as they thronged the premises.

Again, the situation is very unwelcoming to applicants who are not technologically inclined, as they cannot book an appointment with the NIA online.

However, one cannot tell if the situation at the Dzorwulu branch office is happening at all the other offices in the 275 districts scattered across all.

The National Identification Authority (NIA) officially began operations in all the sixteen (16) regions of Ghana on November 4, 2021. This was after the Authority had recruited permanent staff to man the various branches after the mass registration exercise was conducted last year. The Authority is poised to bring its services to the door step of every Ghanaian.

The NIA is mandated to establish a national data centre and manage a national database, set up a system to collect, process, store, retrieve and disseminate personal data on the population. So far, the Authority has registered 15,575, 371 Ghanaians and printed 15,479, 131 Ghana cards and issued 13,292,027 cards to the public.
