The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Opoku Mensah has spoken loud and clear to rebut claims by some teacher unions who have questioned the quality and transparency in the procurement of Teachers Mate 1 laptops manufactured by KA Technologies. He explained that the laptops are as good as any laptop found on the market, adding that no teacher has complained about the machine being faulty.

Furthermore, he disclosed that the Ministry went through the necessary procurement processes towards the purchase of the laptops. Emphasizing that the Education Ministry will not give teachers an inferior machine when they know what is good for them.

Concerning the lawsuit against the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service by All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG) and Innovative Teachers, the spokesperson said that they are waiting to meet in court and provide all the necessary documents as evidence. The two teacher unions have alleged that the laptops are substandard and the price suspicious because there is a whole controversy surrounding it.

It seems the spokesperson is not aware of the news surrounding the laptops. Few months I go, we sighted of faulty TM 1 laptops which was going viral on social media. The user of the laptop was experiencing an on and off the screen whereas it was turned on.

That aside, some teachers have also complained about the laptops giving them problems on social media. Some revealed that the so-called E-Library is not preloaded on it as reported. Teachers are even worried about when they will receive their machine, ever since it was launched in September 2021.
