The management of the Ghana Education Service has directed all Heads of senior high and technical schools in the country to restrain final year students from moving outside their campuses as they break for midterm.
In a letter released by GES dated 19th July 2021 and signed by the Deputy Director-General, Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, it added that mid-semester break for SHS 3 students should be observed in the schools without any academic activities. This means that students are not to be allowed to go home.
According to a letter received from the Director-General of Ghana Health Service, the movement of SHS 3 students will contribute to the spread of Covid-19 as the nation continues to record active cases. Thus, the Ghana Health Service recommends SHS 3 students be restricted to campuses and boarding students should not be allowed to go home either.
Regional Directors of Education are therefore directed to inform all heads of senior high schools to take note and communicate same to staff, students, and parents. Meanwhile, academic work resumes on the 26th of July as earlier communicated.
