About 280,000 laptops have been procured by the government of Ghana to be distributed to teachers in the month of July 2021. The distribution started in the Eastern region, and it is still ongoing in other parts of the country.
Heads of senior high schools were asked to submit particulars of their teachers for collection. At first, it was revealed that only teachers in second cycle institutions are the beneficiary of the said laptops. However, the latest information coming in from the Ghana Education Service says that heads of junior high schools in the country are to submit the names of their teachers for collection of the laptops.
Later, teachers in the primary level are going to benefit from the laptops as well. According to GES, the distribution is being rolled out in batches from the top to the bottom.
Meanwhile, teachers are to supply their head teachers this data: name of teacher, gender, name of school, rank, registered number, qualification name of district among others.
The heads of junior high schools will then forward the data to the District Directorate, which will also be forwarded to the Regional Education Directorate for processing. Meanwhile, school heads are urged to be strict and comply with the directive by providing only the names of staff members at the JHS level only.
