Head Teachers, Directors Submitting Fake Names For The One Teacher One Laptop Project

Published

on

There is an ongoing fraud in the distribution of laptops to junior high teachers in the various public schools across the country by some Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Directors of Education in the Ashanti region.

In a letter sighted online, the attention of the Ashanti Regional Directorate has been drawn to some staff members of GES submitting names of unqualified members of the service, including non-teaching staff and retired personnel in addition to those who duly qualified.

According to the Regional Director, Miss Mary Owusu Afriyie, some strange names have been created with fake IDs and added to the list of teachers who are yet to receive the government laptops and has described the conduct as fraud.

The Regional Director is therefore urging all head teachers and district directors of education to be responsible for the names being submitted. More so, they are requested to validate the list which have been sent and also submit an updated list by the close of today, 31 August 2021.

However, heads of schools and district directors will be held responsible for any false data they submit.
