4 Categories of Candidates Who Qualify For School Placement Into Senior High Schools
The Computerized School Selection and Placement Systems (CSSPS) process is to be commenced in many private and public junior high schools across the country.
This year, the Ghana Education Service has put in so many efforts to sensitize parents and guardians in assisting their wards to select the appropriate senior high school and courses based on their children’s potentials.
In addition to that, management has advised parents and guardians to choose from the 186 institutions where Technical, Vocational and Educational Training Service (TVETS) is being offered to interested students free of charge.
The 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) was conducted on August 7, 2023, in about 2,500 examination centers across the country. In total, over 600,000 candidates sat for the examination.
In this article, we are going to discuss four categories of applicants who qualify for school placement in the year 2023. Let us delve into it.
Fresh graduates
Candidates who just completed junior high last month fall under this category. These are regular candidates from both private and public junior high who wrote the 2021 BECE and are currently waiting for their results.
Private candidates
These are candidates who registered for the 2021 private BECE a couple of months ago and are currently waiting for placement to attend senior high together with the fresh graduates. Normally, students who failed to secure placement of their choice or had a discouraging aggregate fall under this category.
Foreign students
Ghanaians in the diaspora who wish to send their wards down to Ghana to enjoy free SHS or even wish their children to attend senior high school over here are also provided the opportunity to do so. Interested applicants will have to fill a form at the GES headquarters for placement.
Re-entry candidates
These are candidates who failed to go to senior high school many years ago because of financial problems, teenage pregnancy and so on. They will also be considered for school placement this year and benefit from Free SHS as well. Interested applicants should visit GES headquarters for assistance.
