The newly introduced top-up programme for teachers holding diploma commenced in 2021 in December. More than ten thousand students have completed the first phase today, Friday 7th, 2022.
The programme which was spearheaded by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and the Ministry of Education have produced the first batch of teachers with varied degree certificates spanning from B.Ed Early Childhood, B.Ed Junior High Education and B.Ed Primary Education.
Bricy Boateng can confirm that the first phase of the three-semester programme has come to a close after they wrote their final two papers, namely, INSET (In Service Education and Training) and Professional Practice And Ethics In Teaching.
Also, the majority of the students have completed their project works whiles others are yet to do so.The next and last phase to fully complete the course is Off-campus teaching practice which commences when basic schools reopen until the end of term, after which they will graduate and be awarded degree certificates.
The full academic calendar was marked by SRC celebration, end of semester examination, assignments and quizzes, online tuition and face-to-face institution culminating into a whole one-year intention education. The second batch, otherwise known as second cohort, is near completion soon.
