In a tragic incident, a final-year student of Esiama Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Philip Armah Ludtroth, lost his life while attempting to scale the school’s barrier wall. According to media-connected sources, the unfortunate event occurred on Wednesday, March 20, around 1300 hours GMT.
Ludtroth, aged 19, is reported to have jumped the wall in an attempt to procure food outside the school premises. However, he landed on his neck, resulting in a serious sprain. The incident coincided with a special program at the school, declared as Heroes Day, to honor Ghana Education Service retirees and teachers in the Ellembelle District.
Mr. Wilfred Adodoadji, the director of education for the Ellembelle District, confirmed the incident to the media. Ludtroth’s mother had visited the school to bring him food, but he attempted to sneak out by jumping over the school fence.
Tragically, Ludtroth sustained a neck sprain and was rushed to the Clinic at Esiama. He was later referred to St. Martin’s De Porres Hospital in Eikwe, where he was pronounced dead. The body has been deposited at the Eikwe Hospital Morgue pending autopsy.
The Esiama Divisional Police Command has initiated an investigation into the incident to ascertain further details surrounding the tragic event.
