Documents to Present For Upgrade To Principal Superintendent

You qualify for upgrade to Principal Superintendent once you complete your first degree or post-diploma programmes either through study leave with pay, sandwich, or distance education.

Aside that, teachers with diploma certificates from any of the forty-six public colleges of education in Ghana who have served a minimum of four years in the service qualify to be promoted to Senior Superintendent I. Then you move to Principal Superintendent in another four years time.

However, they will have to sit for a promotion aptitude test organized by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The upgrade to Principal Superintendent is worked on by the GES headquarters through the district and regional offices.

Being promoted to this rank comes with a rise in base pay and teacher premium received monthly.

As an in-service teacher seeking to be upgraded to Principal Superintendent, you have first of all have taught for a minimum of two (2) years if you are in the hinterland (remote areas) or three years (3) if you are in the cities.

Then before you begin your further studies programme, you should write a letter to your District Education Office (DEO) for permission attaching your admission letter to it.

  The Ghana Education Service has announced the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 year, starting October 30, 2024, for all second cycle institutions. Current first-year students will transition to Form Two after completing the previous year on October 28. This change aims to align the calendar for future years and facilitate WASSCE in 2025.

It is therefore necessary that you apply for it once you meet the above-mentioned criteria.
