Documents to Present For Upgrade To Principal Superintendent

You qualify for upgrade to Principal Superintendent once you complete your first degree or post-diploma programmes either through study leave with pay, sandwich, or distance education.

Aside that, teachers with diploma certificates from any of the forty-six public colleges of education in Ghana who have served a minimum of four years in the service qualify to be promoted to Senior Superintendent I. Then you move to Principal Superintendent in another four years time.

However, they will have to sit for a promotion aptitude test organized by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The upgrade to Principal Superintendent is worked on by the GES headquarters through the district and regional offices.

Being promoted to this rank comes with a rise in base pay and teacher premium received monthly.

As an in-service teacher seeking to be upgraded to Principal Superintendent, you have first of all have taught for a minimum of two (2) years if you are in the hinterland (remote areas) or three years (3) if you are in the cities.

Then before you begin your further studies programme, you should write a letter to your District Education Office (DEO) for permission attaching your admission letter to it.

It is therefore necessary that you apply for it once you meet the above-mentioned criteria.

The following are the documents to present for your successful upgrading to Principal Superintendent.

  1. Certificate (Post-Diploma / bachelor’s degree/ first degree)
  2. Transcript
  3. Graduation brochure (a photocopy of it, including where your name appears) Graduation brochure (a photocopy of it, including where your name appears)

  5. Current payslip
  6. Application letter
  7. Cover letter from headteacher
  8. Permission letter from GES (permission you sought before furthering your studies)
  9. Filled Personal records form
  10. Appointment letter
