Study leave with pay means that a staff of the Ghana Education Service will be allowed to further his/her education for a maximum of four years (4) outside the classroom whiles being paid his/her monthly salary.
One misconception about study leave with pay is that the teacher’s salary is reduced by half. This is not in any way true. In fact, you are entitled to any allowance or benefits that his/her colleague teachers may enjoy in the service.
Typical examples include the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA), Professional Development Allowance (PDA) and the controversial One Teacher, One Laptop (1T1L) policy.
What happens after completing your studies?
After successfully completing your post-diploma studies (for teachers with Diploma certificates), you will do a mandatory national service, after which you are then reposted to a new district or school.
