The Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT-GH) has rendered an unqualified apology to the Director-General of GES, Prof. Kwasi Opoku Amankwah.
TheDirector General has come under several criticisms on social media platforms by many Ghanaian teachers because he has been cited by GhanaWeb, an online news platform, for instructing teachers in the primary level to sweep the new curriculum under the carpet and revert to the old curriculum. According to the news portal, the statement was made by a CCT-GH representative during a radio discussion on 3FM.
However, according to the Communication Director of CCT-GH, Mr. Adokwei Ayikwei — Alluley, the GhanaWeb together with 3FM (a subsidiary of Media General) erred in their reportage of what he said on 3FM. To him, his statement about the Director-General has been misconstrued and interpreted wrongly.
In a circular released by the Communication department of CCT-GH, an unqualified apology has been rendered to the DG of GES because the latter did not say anything of that sort. Additionally, they are demanding 3FM to retract such publication and apologize thereof.
Meanwhile, the official Facebook page of the Ghana Education Service has cleared the air about the said publication, describing it as fake news which should not be given any attention.
