In a groundbreaking move, the Government of Ghana, represented by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and Ministry of Finance (MoF), has reached a significant agreement with Organized Labour, comprising workers’ Unions, Associations, and Institutions within the Public Service of Ghana.
Negotiating as the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC), both parties have successfully concluded negotiations for the 2024 Single Spine Salary Structure Base Pay. The terms of this historic agreement are set to reshape the landscape of compensation within the public sector.
Key Terms of the Agreement:
1. Base Pay Increase: Commencing from January 2024 to June 2024, the Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) will witness a substantial across-the-board increase of 23%. This move is poised to positively impact a broad spectrum of public service employees, reflecting the commitment of the government to fair and competitive remuneration.
2. Readjustment in July 2024:Moving forward, from July 2024 to December 2024, the Base Pay is set to undergo a readjustment, reaching an impressive 25%. This forward-looking measure aims to sustain the momentum of financial empowerment for public servants.
Closing the Deal:
The agreement, signed on this auspicious 14th day of November 2023, bears witness to the collaboration between the Government of Ghana and Organized Labour.
